Partnership with Parents

We value positive relationships between parents and carers and school. Parents and carers are always welcome, there are plenty of ways parents can be involved with the school.

Stay and Play Sessions - All family members are welcome to join Stay and Play sessions during the school day. The session enables family members to meet and speak to the teachers and the opportunity to support and join in activities. The sessions are an enjoyable experience and very popular - so if you haven't taken part before, please give the next one a try! Stay and play sessions are advertised in the school newsletter and on the website.

Meetings and Workshops - We organise workshops to make sure parents are kept informed about topics relevant to their child's education and the school.  Some workshops include information regarding SATs, reading and eSafety.

Parents' evenings - There is a parents' evening in the Autumn term and the Spring term. It is an opportunity for parents to talk to the class teacher and look at their child's work. In between times, parents are always welcome to contact the class teacher if they have a question or concern regarding their child's academic progress.

End of year reports - Reports are sent home at the end of the summer term.

We are keen to develop parental involvement. If there is anything you can suggest, please let us know.

Volunteering at Meanwood Primary School

Are you a parent, grandparent, carer or neighbour of a Meanwood child?

Do you enjoy spending time with children?

Have you got a couple of hours to spare each week?

Do you enjoy listening to children read, doing art and craft activities or ICT?

Whatever your interests are, we are really keen to recruit more parent volunteers to get involved at Meanwood. You will be warmly welcomed and supported by the staff to develop your own skills for the benefit of the children.

Many volunteers go on to get qualifications and jobs in education and childcare. If you are thinking about a job working with children, volunteering is a great place to start building up your CV.

If you would like to know more, or would like to be a volunteer, please get in touch with the headteacher or your child's class teacher.
